About Me

I have taught English at secondary school level, including A-Level for the past 28 years, 23 of these in England, and 5 of these in South Africa. I have taught the full spectrum of abilities, and my expertise and passion lies in uncovering and developing my students’ self-confidence in the first instance, and then their resilience so that they embrace challenges they will face in their learning, and in life. I particularly love working one-to-one with students, really getting to know them and building positive relationships with them as the foundation for our learning journey together. Having taught in a variety of settings including mainstream schools, special schools and pupil referral units, I enjoy creating bespoke lessons and resources that will engage my students and develop a love of learning in them.
I have experience of working with students with a wide range of special education needs, PDA, autism, school phobia, school avoidance and social, emotional and mental health challenges and am passionate about giving students opportunities to experience success in their learning.
