I am a highly motivated educator with a particular interest in promoting student achievement through motivation and engagement. My knowledge in this area allows me to have high expectations of all students,  providing differentiated, fun lessons to support the learning of mathematics. I pride myself in my ability to build positive relationships with students, in particular, those who struggle with learning due to anxiety or a lack of confidence. I am experienced in tutoring students with Special Educational Mental Health and Special Educational Learning Needs. I am also a parent to two boys who have ADHD and Anxiety Disorders.

I have been a teacher for over 28 years in a variety of settings and with learners ranging from 5 year olds to adults. I also worked for 8 years at a university as a mathematics facilitator supporting teachers to effectively teach mathematics. My most recent work has involved teaching intervention groups of Year 11’s GCSE maths. Being an adaptive expert and my drive to seek new knowledge, ensures I keep up to date with new initiatives and relevant research, which support me to enhance my pedagogy.

"We are blessed to have someone of Amanda's calibre working in our school. She has developed great professional relationships with our staff and students which she backs up with not just her pedagogical knowledge but her teaching. She certainly is a treasure." (Head Teacher)
