I’m a passionate and adaptable tutor, known for bringing out the best in my students—often more than they experience in the classroom. Parents frequently tell me that their children come away from sessions not only understanding more, but genuinely enjoying the learning process. I tailor each session to the individual, meeting them where they’re at and helping them build both confidence and curiosity.
With over a decade of experience teaching mathematics across mainstream, private, and SEN secondary schools, I've seen it all—from algebraic epiphanies to geometry groans.
I've worn many hats, including Head of Year, Head of Pupil Wellbeing, and Head of Faculty for Maths, all while cultivating a deep passion for developing students' confidence in their maths abilities. Whether it's Key Stage 3, 4, or 5, my goal is to make maths less of a monster and more of a friend.
Excitingly, I’m now bringing my love for science into the mix and offering Key Stage 3 science tuition and Biology GCSE. With A Levels in Chemistry and Biology, experience teaching Newtonian Laws at A Level, a near-miss with a Microbiology degree at Bath University, and a Master’s in Psychology, I bring a broad and unique academic background to the table. These days, my enthusiasm for biology lives on through my own horse—who frequently finds himself the subject of worm egg counts under the microscope!
Outside of the classroom, I’m most likely to be found at the stables, occasionally tackling DIY projects with varying degrees of success, or baking treats that occasionally turn out edible. At Dragonfly Tutoring, I'm here to turn maths and science into a piece of cake—sometimes literally!
"My daughter loves going to her maths sessions and comes out smiling. Heather really understands how to get through to her. My daughter is learning much more than she is at school and these lessons are very beneficial". (Year 10)
