James Knowles

I am currently a student at the University of Nottingham studying a Joint Honours in Maths and Economics. Over the last few years of studying maths I have developed a true passion for the subject, both learning it and helping others enjoy it too. 

 

My lessons will begin with the fundamentals and build steadily, ensuring each new concept grows from the last. This approach helps students tackle more complex topics with greater confidence and fluency as they prepare for their GCSE’s, while also developing the logical and critical thinking skills that will benefit them beyond their studies and in their future endeavours too. 

 

I am experienced with tutoring Edexcel GCSE Maths (Foundation and Higher) and also familiar with the AQA syllabus. Each student has input into lesson planning, allowing me to target areas of weakness before they can become an issue. I prepare thoroughly for every session, bringing clear explanations and engaging activities tailored to each learner’s needs. Due to the nature of maths building on previous concepts,  I am keen to make sure my students are entirely confident with a topic before moving on - giving them plenty of opportunity for them to practice and master each topic.
